Aircare have agreed to the long-term sponsorship to restore a small woodland located in north Northumberland. This non-commercial not for profit project will take several years to complete and will see the planting of over 1000 trees. The woodlands were created around 1980-90 and then became neglected due to woodland management costs, then during storm Arwen in 2021 hundreds of trees were destroyed with a massive negative impact to wildlife, fauna, and the forest floor.
Over the coming months and years, the dead-wood will be cleared, removed and gifted for cottage-industry wood-craft and wood-fuel/biomass, the forest floor will be regenerated with wild flowers, ferns and hundreds of meters of natural habitat for birds, insects, amphibians and small mammals. Bird, bat, squirrel, and insect boxes will be installed throughout as the re-planting process begins.
All the work will be carried out by hand (via Aircare team volunteers) ensuring no further damage to the natural habitat, and Aircare is aiming for a 100% success rate with the replanting due to a constant monitoring and management regime. The project will be overseen and managed by our Chartered Environmentalist.
To give our clients and customers the opportunity to be involved, for every Panasonic heat pump system purchased and installed via Aircare in the coming years, a tree will be planted on their behalf and a unique number will be allocated with information and updates.
