Scientists and physicists have been studying and proving the existence of dark matter for many years in various unusual locations throughout the world and many consider this matter to be the building blocks of the entire universe.

Aircare has been recently awarded the contract to design, supply and install a specialist cooling plant for a laboratory that is located in the UK and one mile underground.  The cooling plant is required to maintain stable conditions for the scientists and specialist equipment.

Aircare shall be designing a modified chilled water type system utilising Carrier water chillers and chilled water fan coil units, this is a turnkey project including all project management and mechanical / electrical services.

Congratulations to Daniel Lloyd Reed on his new appointment as a Director at Aircare Services.

Daniel commenced his engineering career with Nexus and started at Aircare during 2006 where he completed his apprenticeship during 2007, sponsored by Aircare Daniel attended Northumbria University from 2008 to 2013 and successfully completed his BEng (hons) degree in Building Services Engineering.

Daniel will enhance the current management team and bring new ideas to ensure Aircare Services remains at the cutting edge of HVAC technology and environmental engineering.

Aircare have been awarded the contract for a major refurbishment on the refrigeration plant at a national food processing site.  Aircare designed, manufactured and installed the equipment back in 1997/1998 and the equipment has operated 24/7 for over 17 years.

The plant comprises of blast and spiral quick freezers, frozen and chilled storage rooms, and chilled production areas.  The client has been satisfied with the equipment for the past 17 years and wanted the equipment updated for another 17 years of reliable operation.

The works involve replacing the refrigerants with modern environmentally friendly refrigerants, updating the controls and control systems for reduced energy consumption, and replacing the outdoor heat exchangers due to age and weather damage.

90% of the existing equipment will remain in service after refurbishment.

This year Aircare is celebrating a quarter of a century as a provider of high quality HVAC, mechanical and refrigeration engineered solutions.

Aircare evolved from a small single office with three staff in 1990 to our current city centre offices and workshops with fifteen employees. Over the years Aircare has seen major changes with the development of heat pumps, alternative cooling and heating systems, and environmental engineering with the main focus being energy use reduction.

All of the staff at Aircare wish our customers and clients “A Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”.

Our offices shall be closed from Tuesday afternoon the 23rd December and shall reopen Monday the 5th January 2015.  Emergency cover for FM and maintenance will continue as usual with the out of hours contact numbers.

The client required a drying system incorporating biomass hot water boilers to reduce the drying time of various biomass fuels and provide grain drying during harvest times.

Aircare designed and installed a heating and dehumidification system that is capable of supplying 24 m3/s of warm dry air to the biomass fuel and grain drying areas.  The systems incorporate 100kW heating coils, industrial supply air fans, water pipe work, ductwork, controls and auxiliary equipment.  To ensure minimal energy use the fans are inverter driven and a user friendly control system to optimise operational times.

This new system has reduced energy consumption and operation costs by up to 80%.

A large automotive component manufacturing plant was suffering from high internal temperatures that were affecting the staff and the production process, the client required a cost effective solution with minimal operating costs that could be installed around their 24 hour production facility.

Aircare designed and installed a semi-displacement supply air system using large Carrier package units with a total cooling duty of 500kW.

The system was designed to provide free cooling reducing energy use by up to 75%.

The client a, North East based national entertainment specialist, required a comfort solution in their private viewing cinema, the system had to be ultra quiet, provide heating and cooling, be draft free, have minimal energy use and also compliment the ascetics of the cinema room, Aircare designed and installed a heat pump system to satisfy all the client requirements.

The equipment Aircare selected is manufactured by Samsung and is from the latest range of Turbo Jet units, this was one of the first UK installed Turbo Jet systems.

The client commented “we are delighted with the units as they have exceeded our expectations”.
